CompuLab Introduces WiFi solution integrated into X270 products

HAIFA, ISRAEL – June 20, 2006– CompuLab introduces a WLAN / WiFi connectivity solution integrated into the CM-X270L computer-on-module, and consequently into the SBC-X270. This is the first, and currently the only, wireless LAN solution available in the CoM market, enabling this essential feature for a wide variety of embedded and mobile applications.

Integrated WiFi implements the 802.11b standard, supporting a 10 Mbps transmission rate and using a 2.4 GHz band. The implementation supports single or dual antenna options and antenna diversity for increased range and stability. WiFi interface is integrated into the CM-X270L CoM, which also contains Intel’s PXA270 CPU, SDRAM, Flash Disk, PCI bus, Ethernet, Audio, Touchscreen and many other essential functions. WLAN drivers are included in Win CE and Linux packages available from CompuLab. The SBC-X270 – PC/104+ computer based on the CM-X270L module, also benefits from the ability to offer WiFi as a new option in its features set.

CompuLab’s roadmap expects integration of the WiFi function also into the CM-X270W, as well as an upgrade to the 802.11g – 54 Mbps standard.

Pricing and AvailabilityEvaluation Kits of the CM-X270L / SBC-X270 with integrated WiFi will be available for sale from 10-Jul-2006. The price of the CM-X270L with WiFi starts at $82 for 1K -unit quantities.
