Hi I have posted the following log of a failed boot....on reset it did boot.
I notice at the end of the printout , a segmentation fault and core dump. I hope it means something to you

I suspect you've forgot steps 5,6 and 7 from the procedure here:

namely, you've probably missed these steps:
5. Kernel Update Procedure
6. Booting Utilite with the newly created SD card
7. Post Install Procedure

Please note that you must repeat the whole procedure from the beginning again (since the system crashed at least one --> causing an improper shutdown and possible filesystem corruption)

Hi AlexM
i have been unable to update the kernel as you suggested. i have followed instructions to the letter. Depending if I am root user or user using sudo i receive Permission Denied or cant find file or directory when following Kernel Update Procedure.
i am using a utilite standard with a usb card reader plugged into a usb port to make the new kernel...ah if only.i use a terminal window to download both files into the tmp file and proceed as instructed
Any thoughts you have would be appreciated

Hi PhilB,

The kernel update procedure is to be executed after you've finished the "Installation onto micro-SD" step.
the continue to the "Kernel Update Procedure", and execute the following commands (as root):

Code:
cd /tmp


Note: this is for kernel 6.1(currently latest 3.0.35 based released kernel), other kernels have other links and md5sum output
Code:
wget "http://utilite-computer.com/download/utilite/kernel/linux-image-imx6_3.0.35-cm-fx6-6.1_all.deb"

Code:
md5sum  linux-image-imx6_3.0.35-cm-fx6-6.1_all.deb

Output of the above command should be: 1588cef29043217a5047fb0ff6509106

Code:
wget http://utilite-computer.com/download/utilite/tools/kernel-update.sh

Code:
chmod +x kernel-update.sh


Code:
KERNEL_DEB_IMAGE=/tmp/linux-image-imx6_3.0.35-cm-fx6-6.1_all.deb  /tmp/kernel-update.sh


provide an output log of the above procedure if it fails.

Success !!! I have managed to update the software you will be pleased to read. The update instructions provided by Compulab are quite straightforward as long has as one is reasonably confident with Linux. The line of code beginning sudo BOOT_MEDIA=<SD/SSD device...........>
contains < > . I had been including the < > in my final line of code which obviously was wrong! but maybe not so obvious to, like myself, a novice.
To you AlexM,is a big thank you for staying with me, without your support I may have given up.
To you Compulab, hurry up and get some real support going and spare a thought to us novices out here!

React to voltage select!" messages implies that U-Boot does not distinguish the card. On the off chance that U-Boot is exceptional, it is conceivable that the SD attachment itself is flawed.
