Post Yet another serial port issue.
Okay here goes...

I've got a utilite standard with an 8Gb micro-SD card.

I've updated the image by dd on a separate machine from http://utilite-computer.com/download/ut ... -17.img.xz

I've updated the U-Boot according to http://www.compulab.co.il/utilite-compu ... oot_Update both by running the script and doing the dd command.

COM2 settings seem to work fine 115200 8N1 no flow control of any kind. However, COM1 only seems to like 9600 I get garbage from u-boot and from linux when it boots even though I can tell the baud rate of the kernel and minicom is set to 115200.

Is there a setting I need to update somewhere during boot that I need to set to 115200? am I missing a page when updating these systems?

Looking at the diff between the two of these I'm not sure what would make the difference between them. Since u-boot and the linux kernel are supposed to be doing their output on COM1 and that seems to be garbage as well this feels like its supposed to be something deeper than stty settings.

So to clarify when I said it likes 9600 baud what I mean technically is that I go into /etc/init/ttymxc3.conf and change the baud rate to 9600, stop ttymxc3, start ttymxc3. Then I change my minicom settings to 9600 baud and the terminal acts fine.

Hi,

Make sure that your distribution has the "/etc/init/ttymxc1.conf" file.
Issue 'start ttymxc1' and try to get connected to the rear serial port with 115200 speed.

Does this port allow this speed?

Yes, com2 works like its supposed to 115200 8n1 no flow control.

However, this doesn't let me see the u-boot or linux start up.

More info, I do have this plugged in through a USB -> serial adapter. I took the device to another machine that actually has a serial port on the motherboard and COM1 worked fine there. I saw the u-boot, linux kernel messages and the root prompt.

Now I'm confused as to why COM2 works with my USB serial adapter and COM1 doesn't.

It registers as a "Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port"

1. in order to see u-boot on COM2 you need a customized build of u-boot.
2. in order to see kernel boot on COM2 you need to change the console macro in u-boot environment from ttymxc3 to ttymxc1
