Really and truthfully, I don't see why you are messing with the serial console.
Your card should be ext2 (preferably)
As well as your OS,
kernel should be in /boot
/lib/modules sould have appropiate modules
The script stuff should be in a text file, and you create a wrapped file called boot.scr
boot.scr should either be in the root of the card, or boot directory
Do not use these instructions literally, adjust to you paths and mounts
Code:
command to make boot.scr (apt-get "uboot-mkimage" if not installed)

mkimage -A arm -O linux -T script -C none -a 0 -e 0 -n "Trim Slice SD Boot" -d bootcmd-file.txt /media/sd-card/boot.scr
(above is all one line)

Halt the system, then watch the console as it boots

I'm only messing with it because it is what is detailed on the Debian wiki. If there is an easier way to get Debian installed on my trimslice I am all for it. I just need Debian squeeze on the system :(

I am not a debian guy, see init= is different in guide
I would guess this in the txt file

OK - I'm calling this progress. I've created the boot.src as described and I've copied the kernel over from the internal driver to my SD card. I am now getting what appears to be kernel panic on start up though:

This gives a clue
[ 2.896626] Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. See Linux Documentation/init.txt for guidance.

I don't know debian, remake boot.scr with init=/sbin/init (to try)
Maybe here is advice http://wiki.debian.org/systemd
And did you copy /lib/modules over?

I notice here http://wiki.debian.org/TrimSlice is says remove init= altogether

I had forgotten to copy over /lib/modules

Now that I took care of that though the system is caught in some type of a seemingly infinite boot loop. It just keeps going through this over and over again without end:
