Post [SOLVED] Cannot boot (has currently no nullmodem-cable)
Somehow I managed to mess up the whole box on day1.
I tried to install ArchLinux but all I got was a non-booting system.
(Killed the boot.scr files on the SSD i guess)

After that I tried:

- Put ubuntu (3.1.10 dd img) on a SD and ;
- - Booted without rescue bttn pressed. = Monitor shows a white square for ever
- - Booted with rescure bttn pressed. = Monitor is not receiving any signal

- Put latest firmware-updater dd img on another SD and:
- - same result as above. NO blinking LEDs ever apears :(

I have no rs-232 monitoring options.
I did try multple SD cards.
I did try previously one of these SDs and could read/write on it while the box was still working.

Q: How do I really boot? ..
a) Do I press rescue while inserting powercable, and release after a second or so.
b) Do I press rescue just after inserting powercable .
c) Do I keep pushing rescue for ever until LEDs start blinking
d) None of the above?

ok, the firmware update Wiki page says:

Quote:
- ..
- ..
- Power on the Trim-Slice while pressing the recovery-boot button.
- The Trim-Slice will automatically boot and write the new firmware onto the SPI flash.
- When the update process is complete, the Trim-Slice indicator LEDs start to blink.
- Shut down Trim-Slice and remove the firmware SD card.
- Restart Trim-Slice.

So I will be more specific in my Questions (and focus only on firmware) :

1) Is "Power on" both "insert power cable" and "press front power button" ?
2) Is it possible to see any progress during update (without RS-232) ?
3) "When the update process is complete" -> any approx times here ?
4) Is "Shutdown" = "front power button, 5 sek press" ?

(It's a very confusing feature(?) that the unit is powering up when the cable is inserted, and that it is blinking slowly when power off button have been pressed )

Answers:
1) "Insert power cable" turns the device on no need in pressing the front button.
In case the device has been turned off by pressing the front power button the power button can be used for turning it on.
2) firmware update needs neither console nor a display.
3) less than a minute.
4) either pressing the from button or unplugging power cable.

Button in micro sd door only for firmware, don't install latest but one before. Keep that button pressed until blink, no more than a minute. Use front sd slot for this.
a new arch image is coming, with 3 boot.scr

OK, so now i want to boot either ubuntu or android from SD:

How?

All I get is "no signal" .. trying multiple monitors (and SDs) and both HDMI outputs

"The Trim-Slice will automatically boot into the installer Ubuntu desktop. "

ooops

just saw the:
"This Firmware Updater installs U-Boot with DTS support that will work only with mainline kernel 3.5 and above "

I guess neither of my SD card have this.

Do I find a working Android install img elsewhere (using >=3.5kernel) ?

Post Re: [SOLVED] Cannot boot (has currently no nullmodem-cable)
Someone could tell me if it is available at some installer Kernel 3.5 or do I compile waiting to come out some installer? :?:

I have a doubt with the latest version of U-Boot. Displays trimslice my unit has only 512MB Dram
Where's the rest?
