Post Plans by Compulab to submit to mainline U-Boot?
Hello,

Right now, the only place in mainline U-Boot related to TrimSlice is the machine declaration in the mach-types.g file imported from Linux.

Are there defined plans from Compulab to submit TrimSlice support to mainline U-Boot? If there are, now would be a good time to submit since the merge window is open. :)

Currently basic support for Trim-Slice is being pushed upstream into the U-Boot Tegra tree by Stephen Warren. The two major missing Trim-Slice features are full USB support (required for SSD controller) and PCIe support (required for GbE).
We plan to patch these two features into the latest mainline U-Boot version and make the transition within two months (before kernel 3.7). Currently there are no plans to upstream these patches.

We have integrated Trim-Slice PCI (required by GbE) and USB port 1 (required by SSD) support into mainline U-boot 2012.04.
Our public git tree is accessible below:
https://gitorious.org/trimslice-u-boot- ... .04-upload

The binary version can be installed by following the link below:

what does this note mean?
Quote:
NOTE
This Firmware Updater installs U-Boot with DTS support that will work only with mainline kernel 3.5 and above

do I have to upgrade the OS to kernel 3.5 before I run the firmware upgrade?

Request for U-Boot with DTS support came from the community that uses mainline Linux on Trim-Slice. If you want to test the new U-Boot with DTS support for the Trim-Slice you have to boot it with latest mainline kernel available on kernel.org

NOTE:
Current stable Compulab release that is based on Nvidia L4T release with 3.1.10 Linux kernel will NOT boot from the latest U-Boot.
